Its body-hugging top flows over wide trousers that brush the floor. Splits in the gown extend well above waist height and make it comfortable and easy to move in. Although virtually the whole body is swathed in soft flowing fabric, these splits give the odd glimpse of a bare midriff, making the outfit very sensual.
Ao dai is made individually to fit each customer's shape to create the most graceful possible look. The pants should reach the soles of the feet and flow along the floor.
Comfortability is always taken into account for fashions and beauty. Tailoring must ensure the wearer's freedom of movements. Despite it is a long robe,ao dai must be cool to wear. Synthetic or silk fabrics are preferred as they do not crush and are quick drying, making the ao dai a practical uniform for daily wear.

What to Eat in Ha Long Bay
Halong Bay is rich in seafood and offers tons of fish, shrimps and oysters. The catch served in most restaurants usually comes right out of fishing boats in the early hours of the morning. There are many good restaurants located in Bai Chay Town (Halong Bay Town) and most are the beachfront type. These eateries offer mainly Vietnamese and Chinese dishes with a good selection of seafood, however lately there are more international options to be had.

Nha Trang Festival
 Hung Temple Festival “ The people who live or travel everywhere Remember to worship the anniversary day of our ancestor on the 10th day of the Third Lunar month” The Hung Temple is tied to the historical legend of the Viet ancestor: Mr. Lac Long Quan got marriage to Lady Au Co who gave birth to 100 eggs, from which 100 children came into being, of whom 50 followed their father Lac Long Quan to the sea; while 49 others followed their mother, Lady Au Co to the highlands. The eldest son of Lac Long Quan stayed here to become the first king of Van Lang State. During Van Lang State, there were 18 Hung Kings. In Khanh Hoa Province, the festival is organized annually on the 10th day of the third lunar month at Hung Vuong Temple, which situated on Ngo Gia Tu Road, Nha Trang City. This temple was built in 3 years from 1971 to 1974. This festival includes of respected joss-sticks offerings and offering flowers. All leaders of the province, departments, offices, and the representative religious, people within province attend the festival. |
Ho Chi Minh City names best tourism brands
Ho Chi Minh City - country’s biggest tourism center, last Saturday announced the best Vietnam travel firms, hotels, travel websites, shopping venues and tourism service providers in the city.
Four companies of Vietnam tour – Saigontourist Travel Service, Fiditourist, Ben Thanh Tourist and Vietravel – are all included in the lists of the top 10 inbound companies, 10 outbound companies and 10 domestic companies.
All these companies but Fiditourist are in the top five with the best e-commerce websites, together with Viet Media Travel and TST Tourist.
Hue Festival to be held next April
The Hue Festival 2012 will be held next April in the central province of Thua Thien Hue.
Under the theme ‘Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development- Rendezvous of Historical Cities’, the festival, the seventh of its kind, will be a spotlight of the National Tourism Year 2012, which will also be hosted by the province.
The festival, slated for next April 7-15, aims to realise a government decision on making Hue a Vietnam’s festival city and to affirm Thua Thien Hue to be one of Vietnam’s unique culture-tourism centres.

Invading forces from every direction agree: Hanoi makes a fine capital. It has held that title for more than a thousand years, through several invasions, occupations, restorations, and name changes. The Chinese conquered the imperial city of of Đại La in 1408 and renamed it Tống Bình. Le Loi repelled the invaders in 1428 and applied the name of Lê Thái Tổ (黎太祖); for his efforts, he received the crown and a slew of legends about his heroic exploits, many centered around the Hoan Kiem Lake in the Old Quarter. The Nguyen Dynasty gave the city its modern name of Ha Noi in 1831, but they had transferred power to Hue by then; it remained there until 1887, when the French made Hanoi the capital of all Indochina. It changed hands again in 1954, when it was ceded to Ho Chi Minh and the Viet Minh after almost a decade of fighting, and it became the capital of North Vietnam; upon reunification in 1975, it assumed that title for the entire country.The first western-style universities in Vietnam were founded in Hanoi, and today, it is the leading center of scientific study and research in the country. Hanoi retains much of its older colonial charm, despite the battles that have raged over it; conflict had the side effect of making it largely oblivious to modern architecture, and as a result, few buildings in the city center area are higher than five stories. The Old Quarter is second only to Hoi An for uninterrupted stretches of colonial and pre-colonial architecture, well-preserved on dense warrens of narrow, wonderfully atmospheric streets. It trades the commercial boom and sprawl of Ho Chi Minh City in the South for a more understated charm, worth enjoying for an extra day or two, and with countless transport options and travel agents, it makes a perfect base for exploration of the North.
As you walk along the street, you may find that people start talking to you. It is a cultural norm there to make conversation with strangers. They might ask you where you are from and other general questions.
It takes awhile to get used to that. However, there are times when you find this friendliness extremely helpful, such as when you are lost or need help.
The Tourist Information Center - tel: (84-4) 926 3366 - on Dinh Tien Hoang, just north of Hoan Kiem Lake, can provide a fairly useful map (bewilderingly, the blow-up of the old town is missing making it useless in that part of town) and other English-language advice, as well as limited free Internet. They aren't completely without bias.

Taxis are the most comfortable way of getting around, and not too expensive - about 12,000 dong for the first 1km, plus 10,000 dong per additional km. (Prices jumped about 30% at the start of 2008, and again in July 2008 due to the soaring price of fuel but have since been reduced.) It's usually not hard to flag a taxi anywhere in the central city, though finding an available one in the rain or during peak hours can be difficult.
Taxi rates are not regulated by the city government, and each company sets its own fare structure, which changes from time to time. The market is fairly competitive, however, and the major companies all reasonably honest with similar rates. Major companies include: Vinasun (white and dark green), Mai Linh (various shades of white (standard), light green (mini w/ cheaper rate), brown, and silver, Vinataxi (yellow and blue), Petrolimex (white with blue and orange) and Savico (blue). Hoang Long (green and yellow) charges similar fares for short trips, but is 10-20% higher for long trips. Some off-brand taxis, such as "Taxi-Meter," have fast meters, and are best avoided unless you are a regular and know them well. Drivers generally do not speak English or any other foreign language, so if your destination is somewhere other than the airport or a major hotel, it might help to write the name and/or address on paper beforehand.

The main reason visitors come to Can Tho is to tour the nearby floating markets. While these are highly recommended, the riverfront promenade itself is also pleasant with some good places to eat and relax in. The city has a good range of accommodation from cheap backpacker haunts right through to comfortable mid-range digs and its urbane atmosphere contrasts to the more rural feel of the towns further out in the Delta.

Cai Rang market
Cai Rang floating market is situated about 8 km from Can Tho by t is quite nice and sells a variety of fruit and vegetables and operates from 5 am to 11 am, though the markets are better the earlier you can get there. A cyclo from Can Tho will take about 15 minutes to get to Cai Rang Market. Another market, Phung Hiep market, is 31 km from Can Tho. This is the snake market, selling a plethora of living, wriggling and often poisonous snakes. Pythons and Cobras are sold here by people from the countryside who have caught them by hand, whilst others have come to purchase snakes for restaurants, medicinal reasons or personal consumption. This market is open from 5 am to 5 pm. If travelling by boat, you can add a dimension to your day by stopping and visiting some of the fruit gardens, which sell pineapple, rambutan and papaya amongst many other fruits.

- Xuan Huong Lake: It is a lovely lake in Dalat which stretches for nearly 5 kilometers. This lake was created from a dam project which got destroyed by a storm and then the current Xuan Huong Lake was built in its place in 1935. Here you can rent windsurfing boards and paddle boats to take a spin around the river, though most people generally prefer taking long walks around.- Valley of Love: It is the popular name for Thung Lung Tinh Yeu Park, located about 3.2 kilometers away from the town centre. - Prenn Fall: Situated at the bottom of the Prenn pass, nearly 10 kilometers from Dalat, this place is well known for its flora and fauna. People generally come here to see its wildlife.
- Gougah Fall: About 40 km away from Dalat, this waterfall has naturally separated water ways at the center of the fall.
- Lat Village or Chicken Village: This is the village of the Co Ho people, with a huge cement sculpture of a chicken at its centre.
- Linh Phuoc Pagoda: It is a very contemporary pagoda housing a statue of Buddha made of gold and also has a very fascinating garden around it.

Phan Thiet - Mui Ne travel information
Further south, and just 200km north of Ho Chi Minh City, is the small fishing town of Phan Thiet.While Phan Thiet is a pleasant enough town, the real attraction is the nearby Mui Ne Peninsula and its 10km of sandy beaches and coconut groves. Many attractive small-scale beach resorts have opened up in recent years amongst the palm trees of Mui Ne and it has become a popular place to rest up for a few days.
At the end of the peninsula near to the fishing village are some enormous sand dunes that look as if they belong in the Sahara rather than southern Vietnam.
